5 STEPS IN BECOMING A PUBLISHED AUTHOR WITH DRB

O1 – SUBMISSION
02 – EVALUATION
03 – COST ESTIMATE
04 – CONTRACT
05 – PROJECT LAUNCH

1- SUBMISSION

Please submit your manuscript as a Word document. The process proceeds more efficiently if authors do not attempt to insert pictures, illustrations, or headers in their document or try to lay it out with the final dimensions and appearance of a book. These are accomplished later in the process. Just make your document a normal size (8.5x11 pages, single or double space). Please do not send chapters separately. Combine all your chapters into one file and email your manuscript from the DRB website, after filling out the author form. No submission fee is required.

If emailing your manuscript is not possible, you may send it on a USB drive through the mail. Handwritten or printed copies can also be sent, but be sure to keep your original (printed or handwritten) and only send us a copy. Pictures and illustrations should be high resolution and can be digital on a USB, CD, DVD, or printed. Again, always keep your originals.

Our address is: P.O. Box 4260, Cleveland, TN 37320.

We are excited about helping you fulfill your vision!

02 - EVALUATION

Our acquisition team will evaluate your book on five points:

(1) content
(2) suggested level of editing
(3) artistic recommendations (size, cover art, internal organization, illustrations)
(4) category placement (publishing division)
(5) potential audience and impact

You should hear back from a DRB representative, either on the same day your book is submitted or the next business day.

Please note: Your book must be Christian and theologically sound. Even if your manuscript does not have strong biblical content (e.g. quoted scripture, Bible stories, etc.), it must still be in agreement with Christian principles and the Statement of Faith of Deeper Revelation Books.

03 – COST ESTIMATE

After discussing with the author: (1) the probable size of the book, (2) the number of books projected for the first printing, (3) the level of editing required, (4) unique plans and purposes (including e-book production, associated workbook, marketing options, etc.), then a cost estimate will be produced and sent back by email ASAP. We are very upfront about all charges. You will never be surprised by unexpected, hidden fees.

04 – CONTRACT

Our contract is simple and easy to understand, presented primarily for clarity—so that authors have a clear understanding of our responsibilities as the publisher and their responsibilities as associate authors—that the whole process will move forward smoothly and efficiently.

05 – PROJECT LAUNCH

Once the contract is completed and your book coach (editor) is assigned, your project will be launched with joy. We will be striving for excellence in all that we do (as an act of worship toward God) and our goal is to even surpass your expectations. Ask about our special marketing tools to help you achieve greater success!

Your Publishing Team Is Waiting to Meet YOU!!!

Book Mentor – A DRB book mentor (also called a “creative editor”) is a team member who helps an author develop and finish an incomplete manuscript so that it can be submitted to a book coach. Manuscripts that are complete do not need this stage.

Book Coach – A DRB book coach is an editor who will edit your book and prepare it for the graphics stage. Both copyeditors and substantive editors bear this title. Once the editing process is over, you will be passed back to your Facilitator.

Project Facilitator—A DRB Project Facilitator is a team member who oversees your manuscript from the beginning to the end. He or she introduces you to your editor, then your graphic designer, then does the final check before sending your finished book to the printer. Your project facilitator will make suggestions to you concerning advanced marketing techniques and various marketing tools you can obtain to promote your book.

When you open up that first box of brand new books,

we will all rejoice together!!!
